Hello Guys
Ever tried what affects what ,when you work with slicing software ... lets FIND OUT
Here we made an attempt to check how the time or consumption of material is affected by placing the component in different orientation in Slicing Software
The software used is Cura which is from Ultimaker Company and is a open source , the software supports a lot of 3D printers for generating the g code
Lets get started
Here you can see we created a rectangular box of dimensions 50*20*30 Using Autodesk Fusion 360,kindly note the software is available for free to students for 3 years and you can also find the course to master it on their official website Autodesk fusion 360
The model is then Converted to STL and is then imported in CURA which is a general slicing software
The following were the three orientations of design in the CURA software , not to make it complex, we decided to stick to one profile of settings and just change the orientation
The setting kept were as follows which are visible when you look in custom setting of CURA software, The following has BRIM enabled just to add some build adhesion technique
Though there are many factors like layer height which also has initial layer height , shell thickness, printing speed, travel speed etc but here we have only considered orientation

SO here are the four changes in orientation just for understanding the effect on time of printing, the time showcased is estimated time and varies
The time taken here to print is 2 hr 28 min
The time taken for this orientation is 2 hr 23 min
The time taken here is 2 hr and 15 min (Note no supports option is Activated)
We know this sounds simple, but it looks for this design ... when there are complicated parts for which 3D printing is especially used it matters a lot .
Many around fail to realize , so kindly take note the following points which can definitely help you save a few time
ORIENTATION IN 3D PRINTING IS IMPORTANT , PLEASE NOTE IT 3D PRINTING LOVERS..!!!!
